Colette Fu Artist Talk and Reception

Structure Unbound: Interdisciplinary Book Art features works that push the boundaries between traditional book making and new media. The exhibition includes twenty-four artists from around the country. Visitors will see a wide range of materials and concepts, including paper wall installations, traditional accordion-style books, and cut paper structures that include LEDs and electronic components.
Exhibition juror and featured artist is a photographer and pop-up paper engineer. She has designed for award winning stop motion animation commercials and free-lanced for clients including Vogue China, Canon Asia and Mo毛t Hennessy 鈥 Louis Vuitton. Her pop-up books are included in the National Museum of Women in the Arts, Library of Congress, Metropolitan Museum of Art, the West Collection and many private and rare archive collections. Fu recently returned from a 6-month artist residency in Shanghai, where she continued her 鈥淲e are Tiger Dragon鈥 project, an extensive visual exploration of China鈥檚 ethnic minorities. The Stein Galleries will be featuring eight of Colette鈥檚 pop-up photography books along with the exhibition.
Ms. Fu will give a free, public presentation on her work on Sunday, January 22, 2:30 p.m. with a reception following in the Stein Galleries. She will also give a workshop on basic pop-up techniques on Saturday, January 21 from 1:00-4:00 p.m. in the Creative Arts Center.
