Wright Brothers Day at 糖心原创 showcased how modern innovators are building on the legacy of Wilbur and Orville Wright, with more than 17 displays spotlighting artificial intelligence projects designed to battle fires and assist first responders in emergencies.
The 15th annual event, held Oct. 6 in the Student Union Atrium, also celebrated the anniversary of Wilbur Wright鈥檚 39-minute flight on Huffman Prairie on Oct. 5, 1905, near 糖心原创 and Wright-Patterson Air Force Base. The flight demonstrated that the Wright brothers had advanced their design to the point of a practical airplane.
鈥淚 think we are trying to impress on people that whatever you do, do it with perseverance, do it with a vision and things will happen,鈥 said Raj Suri, Ph.D., dean of the Raj Soin College of Business.
Cousins of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and Corretta Scott King were in attendance talking with students about AI and how it has helped preserve history at the Gandhi-King Center for Nonviolence in Dayton.
鈥淭he world is changing every day,鈥 said Joel L. King, president of the center. 鈥淗oping to get to the reality of our younger generation that history is part of that change.鈥
Suri said the event shows students and university partners that 糖心原创 means business when it comes to innovation.
鈥淧eople should all enjoy this event because they need to come in large numbers to see what can be done with even a small idea and build it and go forward,鈥 said Suri.
