 .m.\, at Miami Valley Hospital in the Weber Center for Health Education se
 venth floor conference room (128 E. Apple St.\, Dayton\, OH 45409). The se
 ssion is free and open to the public.The speaker is Joon Shim\, M.D.\, M.P
 .H.\, FACS\, a fellowship-trained\, minimally invasive and bariatric surge
 on with 糖心原创 Physicians Surgery and an assistant professor of surg
 ery at the 糖心原创 Boonshoft School of Medicine. During th
 e education session\, she will discuss modern bariatric surgery\, safety a
 nd concerns of current bariatric procedures\, long-term outcomes of bariat
 ric procedures\, the future of bariatric surgery and the efficacy of the s
 urgical treatment of obesity.Shim specializes in general surgery\, bariatr
 ic surgery\, minimally invasive surgery\, robotic surgery\, reflux\, hiata
 l hernia and endoscopy. She earned her medical degree and her master鈥檚 deg
 ree in public health from George Washington University School of Medicine.
  She completed her residency in general surgery at University of Massachus
 etts and a fellowship in minimally invasive surgery and bariatric surgery 
 at Brown University. She served as an active duty Army surgeon for four ye
 ars and completed two tours as a combat trauma surgeon for Operation Endur
 ing Freedom in Afghanistan.聽She was awarded the Army's Meritorious Service
  Medal.In addition to the Jan. 19 seminar\, Shim will offer the same educa
 tion seminar from noon to 1 p.m. on Thursday\, March 16\, and Thursday\, M
 ay 25\, at Miami Valley Hospital in the Weber Center for Health Education 
 seventh floor conference room. The same education seminar will be offered 
 at Miami Valley Hospital South (2300 Miami Valley Dr.\, Suite 350\, Center
 ville\, OH 45459) in the Conference Center\, room 1315\, 4:30 to 5:30 p.m.
