She will be delivering a lect ure on her work\, which is also on display in the Stein Galleries as part of the photography exhibition EXPOSURE. A reception will follow the lectur e in the Stein Galleries (A132 CAC) until 7:00 p.m.\n\nElena Dorfman achie ved much her fame through exploring the social\, cultural\, and sexual pra ctices of marginalized communities. Some of her other series explored the lives of Cosplay participants and horse jockeys. She eventually branched o ut to capture contemporary views of ancient yet evolving landscapes\, shif ting the focus from people to places. It was her 鈥淪till Lovers鈥 series\, h owever\, that placed her in the spotlight of contemporary photography.\n\n Dorfman鈥檚 concern for overlooked groups recently took her to the Middle Ea st\, where she spent six months covering the Syrian refugee crisis for the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees. Her series 鈥淪yria鈥檚 Lost G eneration鈥 documents the plight of Syria鈥檚 youth in the form of powerful p hotographic portraits.\n\nEXPOSURE: An Exhibition of Contemporary Photogra phy highlights over 60 photographs by world-class artists presenting a wid e breadth of aesthetic\, conceptual and technical approaches to the medium . The exhibition runs through October 12.
