T hey will give an informal gallery talk in the Galleries on Sunday\, Januar y 18th at 3:00 p.m.\, with a reception following until 5:30 p.m.\n\nThe ma rried artists\, who emigrated from Taiwan\, both studied painting at Queen s College in New York. \n\nWhile both artists were trained as representati onal painters who work from observation\, Shiao Ping-Wang鈥檚 work took a tu rn toward abstraction in 2002\, responding to ideas and feelings rather th an the observable world. Using primarily acrylic paint\, Wang utilizes and explores patterns to express things with no tangible form\, such as memor y and sound. Her work has won her a Fellowship at Vermont Studio Center i n 2007 and the Spotlight Award for Best Painter in the Seacoast in 2008.\n \nBy contrast\, Brian Chu鈥檚 work is representational and focused on the wo rld he sees. Using oil paint\, his subjects include people\, objects\, and landscapes. He process is often spontaneous and his paintings have a work ed surface that he creates using his brushes\, palette knives\, and sticks . Like his wife\, he has taught at several institutions\, including the Un iversity of New Hampshire where he is currently an Associate Professor.\n \nFor more information\, visit the exhibition's website page.\n\nImage: Sh iao-Ping Wang\, 'Spring\,' acrylic on canvas.Event Webpage: https://libera l-arts.wright.edu/art-galleries/exhibitions/painters-brian-chu-and-shiao-p ing-wang-to-visit-wright-state DTSTART;TZID=America/New_York:20150118T150000 DTEND;TZID=America/New_York:20150118T173000 LAST-MODIFIED:20150825T195221Z LOCATION:A132 Creative Arts Center SUMMARY:Gallery Talk and Reception: Painters Brian Chu\, Shiao-Ping Wang URL;TYPE=URI:/events/gallery-talk-reception-painters- brian-chu-shiao-ping-wang END:VEVENT END:VCALENDAR
