 sity just moved to a new building.  We seized this opportunity and designe
 d ourselves large\, flat classrooms. This means we can teach our algebra-b
 ased and calculus-based introductory courses in the SCALE-UP model (SCALE-
 UP stands for Student-Centered Activities for Large-Enrollment Undergradua
 te Programs.)\n\nI'll talk about the work we did preparing for the transit
 ion: bringing in experts\, traveling to observe other universities\, and d
 esigning the rooms. Then I will present preliminary results\; after one se
 mester of SCALE-UP\, how are our students
