 namesake\, Paul Laurence Dunbar\, turn-of-the-century poet\, novelist\, pl
 aywright and Dayton\, Ohio native. Paul Laurence Dunbar is remembered for 
 his work in both dialectic verse and standard English\, and was one of the
  first influential black poets in American literature. Learn about Dunbar’
 s rise from elevator operator to noted writer in a special presentation an
 d recitation from Dr. Herbert W. Martin\, Professor Emeritus\, University 
 of Dayton. Dr. Martin is a prolific poet as well\, having published eight 
 volumes of poetry and served as a Fulbright Scholar in Hungary in 1990. Hi
 s editing work includes The Complete Novels of Paul Laurence Dunbar and Th
 e Uncollected Dramatic Works of Paul Laurence Dunbar.\n\nEnjoy updates fro
 m the Friends of the Libraries and a buffet lunch in the ÌÇÐÄÔ­´´ Nutt
 er Center Berry Room\, beginning at 12:00 p.m.\, April 15th. On the menu: 
 Wright Salad with sliced apples\, blue cheese and candied walnuts\, herb r
 oasted artichoke chicken\, vegetarian lasagna\, rosemary roasted red potat
 oes\, roasted mixed vegetables\, plus double chocolate cake\, fruit pie\, 
 assorted breads\, iced tea\, regular & decaf coffee.\n\nRegistration is $2
 5\, $22.50 for current Friends of the Libraries members\, or $35 as a Lunc
