It is an outstanding opportunity to see our government at work. \nThe Ohio Civil Rights Commission was created by the Ohio Legislature 57 years ago and is responsible for enforcing Ohio’s Civil Rights laws which guarantee everyone will be treated equally.  There are five Commissioners who are appointed by the Governor for four year terms. Complaints are file d with the Commission by individuals who believe they have been discrimina ted against and most of these complaints are employment related. These com plaints are investigated by the staff of the Commission and recommendation s are made. The parties to these complaints\, normally an individual and t heir employer\, may request a hearing at which time evidence may be presen ted to the Commissioners who then make a ruling. \n*Note for first-year Ho nors students: Fall 2017 first-year Honors students are required to attend one Dialogue during the 2017-2018 academic year to maintain priority regi stration status.
