 r Programs.  General Education is an essential component of every undergra
 duate degree program.  What is the national research on the impact of Gene
 ral Education?  What are the most effective General Education models?  Wha
 t principles should underlie General Education?  The answers to these ques
 tions are the focus of an Ohio Department of Higher Education (ODHE) Overs
 ight Committee on General Education\, which was initiated in May\, 2017.  
 The WSU General Education Academy will meet on a regular basis to analyze 
 and discuss the materials driving the ODHE oversight committee and generat
 e pedagogical principles that can enhance the WSU Core.  The General Educa
 tion Academy discussions will be facilitated by Dr. Carl Brun\, Coordinato
 r of the WSU Core.  The Academy will meet bimonthly in the Fall 2018\, beg
 inning with an overview of the ODHE General Education initiative during th
 e first meeting.  Faculty from all disciplines are encouraged to participa
 te.
