 5459).聽The seminar is free and open to the public.Shim\, an assistant prof
 essor of surgery at the聽糖心原创 Boonshoft School of Medici
 ne\, will discuss modern bariatric surgery\, safety and concerns of curren
 t bariatric procedures\, long-term outcomes of bariatric procedures\, the 
 future of bariatric surgery and the efficacy of the surgical treatment of 
 obesity.聽Patients who have had prior bariatric surgery are welcome to atte
 nd.聽She聽specializes in general surgery\, bariatric surgery\, minimally inv
 asive surgery\, robotic surgery\, reflux\, hiatal hernia and endoscopy. Sh
 e earned her medical degree and her master鈥檚 degree in public health from 
 George Washington University School of Medicine. She completed her residen
 cy in general surgery at University of Massachusetts and a fellowship in m
 inimally invasive surgery and bariatric surgery at Brown University. She s
 erved as an active-duty Army surgeon for four years and completed two tour
 s as a combat trauma surgeon for Operation Enduring Freedom in Afghanistan
