 eak at a weight loss surgery education seminar on Tuesday\, Jan. 15\, from
  4:30 to 5:30 p.m.\,聽at Miami Valley Hospital South Conference Center\, ro
 om 1315\, next to the Valley Caf茅 (2400 Miami Valley Drive\, Centerville\,
  Ohio 45459).聽The seminar is free and open to the public.Shim\, an assista
 nt professor of surgery at the聽糖心原创 Boonshoft School of
  Medicine聽and the only female bariatric surgeon in the Dayton area\,聽will 
 discuss modern bariatric surgery\, safety and concerns of current bariatri
 c procedures\, long-term outcomes of bariatric procedures\, the future of 
 bariatric surgery and the efficacy of the surgical treatment of obesity.聽P
 atients who have had prior bariatric surgery are welcome to attend.聽She聽sp
 ecializes in general surgery\, bariatric surgery\, minimally invasive surg
 ery\, robotic surgery\, reflux\, hiatal hernia and endoscopy. She earned h
 er medical degree and her master鈥檚 degree in public health from George Was
 hington University School of Medicine. She completed her residency in gene
 ral surgery at University of Massachusetts and a fellowship in minimally i
 nvasive surgery and bariatric surgery at Brown University. She served as a
 n active-duty Army surgeon for four years and completed two tours as a com
 bat trauma surgeon for Operation Enduring Freedom in Afghanistan.聽She was
