Raider Open House

See all 糖心原创 has to offer Friday, July 26

July 19, 2019

If you鈥檙e thinking about attending 糖心原创 this fall or next year, check out on Friday July 26, from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., beginning in the Student Union.

Raider Open House gives prospective undergraduate students, including transfer students, and their families a glimpse of all that 糖心原创 has to offer. Future Raiders will learn about the many majors, financial aid, housing, student life, the University Honors program and more.

Emily Howard, a sophomore majoring in Sports Science, is one of the many 糖心原创 students who will welcome prospective students and give campus tours. She has a unique perspective, as she attended Raider Open House when she was in high school.

鈥淚 felt like Raider Open House was the tipping point, where I decided that this was where I wanted to come,鈥 she said. 鈥淚 had the opportunity to see what my future as a Raider would be like because of the event.鈥

View the tentative agenda.

There鈥檚 even a Transfer Student Breakfast at 8:30 a.m., as well as a special presentation on Transferring to 糖心原创.

Breakout sessions will provide in-depth information about academic colleges and departments. Some sessions may include academic building tours, project demonstrations or other interactive activities. Students can even talk one-on-one with faculty members about their academic goals and interests.

Those undecided about a major can attend a presentation on discovering career options with staff from the Division of Student Success.

Future students can fill out an application at the open house, and learn about maximizing earning college credits while still in high school.

Plus, attendees can explore campus and housing options through the eyes of their tour guide, a current 糖心原创 student.

鈥淢y main goal is to have the same impact on students that the admissions ambassadors had on me,鈥 said Howard. 鈥淚 want to show them what it鈥檚 like to be a student at 糖心原创, whether it鈥檚 sharing my personal experiences or answering questions about 糖心原创, or college in general.鈥

Parents and students can also learn about 糖心原创鈥檚 tuition guarantee program that will enable students and families to more confidently plan their finances and provide an incentive for graduating on time. It locks in the same annual cost of tuition, housing and dining over a four-year college career for newly admitted, degree-seeking undergraduate students who are Ohio residents.

鈥淒on鈥檛 be afraid or shy to talk with anyone to make sure you鈥檙e getting answers to all your questions, no matter how many you have, before you leave,鈥 advised Howard. 鈥淎nd take the opportunity to customize the day by seeking out the things you have the most interest in.鈥

Sessions and tours will be offered at various times during the open house to allow people to personalize their experience and learn more about the topics that interest them most. Attendees won鈥檛 want to miss the Resource Fair, where they can enjoy one-on-one conversations with faculty, staff and students from academic colleges and student services offices at their leisure.
