Rec ently\, the field has been revitalized as technologies incorporating virtu al humans have become more common in everyday life. Researchers now often examine how to most effectively design virtual humans for different contex ts. One of these lines of research focuses on how virtual humans are perce ived by learners. Theorists suggest that how we perceive these characters can influence the learning process\, but it is not yet known which percept ions matter. Our recent experimental work has shown that the existing meas ures commonly used by researchers to evaluate the construct of ‘agent pers ona’ are poor predictors of learning. This talk will focus on what virtual humans are\, why they can be effective learning tools\, and the findings of recent studies around the design of these systems.Event Webpage: https: //wright.ca1.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_1TUl1727atCVIq1 DTSTART;TZID=America/New_York:20200925T120000 DTEND;TZID=America/New_York:20200925T130000 LAST-MODIFIED:20200908T124933Z LOCATION:Online via Webex SUMMARY:Designing Virtual Humans to Facilitate Learning: What Really Matter s? by Dr. Noah Schroeder URL;TYPE=URI:/events/designing-virtual-humans-facilit ate-learning-what-really-matters-dr-noah-schroeder END:VEVENT END:VCALENDAR
