The area was once home to Oldtow n\, one of the largest-known Shawnee settlements in Ohio. More than 1\,000 people called Oldtown home from approximately 1777 to 1780. Their stories directly intersect with that of historic settlers like Daniel Boone\, who was held captive in Oldtown for a period of time.\n\nThe Great Council St ate Park\, Ohio’s 76th state park\, will feature a 12\,000-square-foot int erpretive center with an architectural design based on a council house his torically used by the Shawnee tribes. It will be on the site of the birthp lace of the Shawnee Chief Tecumseh.  Inside\, visitors will find three flo ors of exhibits\, a theater area\, a living stream\, and a gallery. Thedis plays will honor the Shawnee tribes of the past and allow present-day memb ers of the Shawnee nation to share their stories. The expected opening is 2023.\n\nSponsored by ԭ-Lake Campus Outreach and Diversity\n\nC ontact: Dane Daniel\, dane.daniel@wright.edu\, 419 586-0390 DTSTART;TZID=America/New_York:20221103T153000 DTEND;TZID=America/New_York:20221103T163000 LAST-MODIFIED:20221031T180121Z LOCATION:James F.
