Dozens of engaged 糖心原创 students, faculty and staff attended the first Know Your Rights event in the Millett Hall Atrium on Feb. 23.

The event was an opportunity to ask questions and learn about your rights and responsibilities when interacting with police.

鈥淚鈥檓 very enlightened now,鈥 said Gabrielle Brown, a junior majoring in marketing and event attendee. 鈥淚 definitely want to spread the word to my family.鈥

Montgomery County Recorder Brandon McClain led a panel that included Kurt Holden, director of public safety at 糖心原创, Dayton police Sgt. Daniel Perkins and Dayton police officer Christine Hamilton.

鈥淗aving these discussions break down a lot of the different stereotypes and pre-conceived notions that we may have, and ultimately allow us to see that we have way more in common than differences,鈥 said McClain.
