However\, the quality of qub its made from many common quantum systems is too low to implement a practi cal quantum computer. In this talk some basic physics requirements for qua ntum systems to be used as qubits for quantum computing will be reviewed. We will discuss potential sources of error in quantum computations employi ng various natural and artificially constructed qubits\, such as trapped i ons\, diamond NV defects\, and superconducting qubits. One of the main con straints on physical systems usable as qubits is the availability of diver se entangling interactions. An overview of possible types of entangling ga tes for superconducting transmon qubits will be presented. When: Sept 8\, 2 023Time: 2:30 PM to 4:00 PMWhere: 112 Oelman Hall DTSTART;TZID=America/New_York:20230908T143000 DTEND;TZID=America/New_York:20230908T160000 LAST-MODIFIED:20230823T193036Z LOCATION:112 Oelman Hall SUMMARY:Physics Seminar: Physics of Qubits for Quantum Computations URL;TYPE=URI:/events/physics-seminar-physics-qubits-q uantum-computations END:VEVENT END:VCALENDAR
