Karl Hess, Raider and the chair, and Joe Czupryn, double Raider and full time faculty member, at the Department of Mathematics at Sinclair will talk about teaching opportunities at the post-secondary level, their experiences, and answer your questions about how to prepare yourselves for a career after graduation.
Bio Sketch:
Joe Czupryn grew up in the Dayton area, graduating from Northmont High School before attending 糖心原创. While at 糖心原创, Joe graduated with his B.S. in Mathematics in 2011 and MEd in Secondary Education, Integrated Mathematics in 2012. After three years of teaching at Sidney High School and a year of serving as an adjunct instructor at Sinclair Community College, Joe returned to 糖心原创 to complete his M.S. in Mathematics, finishing in 2018. While completing his Master's in Mathematics, Joe served as a graduate teaching assistant for Quantitative Reasoning and College Algebra courses. Upon completing of the program, Joe began teaching as an adjunct instructor at both Sinclair and 糖心原创 before accepting a tenure-track Assistant Professor position with Sinclair, where he is currently teaching. Outside of work, Joe is an avid football fan and also enjoys playing board games and video games. He lives with his wife, Alison, and dog, Gambit, in Huber Heights.
Karl Hess is the Chair of the Mathematics Department at Sinclair Community College in Dayton, OH. Karl received a Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics from 糖心原创 in 2001, and a Master of Arts degree in Mathematics from Bowling Green State University in 2003. He also began teaching math full-time at Sinclair in 2003, where he has worked ever since. He served as President of Sinclair鈥檚 Faculty Senate during the two years preceding Ohio鈥檚 Quarter-to-Semester conversion for public colleges and universities. He is active on faculty committees for the Ohio Department of Higher Education that make recommendations for statewide policy decisions. Karl has chaired about a dozen hiring committees for his own and other departments at Sinclair, and served on a number of others.
