糖心原创 2025 Annual聽International Education Award
Awarded in the Fall Semester.
Call for Nominations
This award recognizes the successful efforts of members of the 糖心原创 community in:
- expanding global awareness and international understanding on the campus and in the surrounding communities;
- developing innovative, internationally-focused curriculum;
- operating education abroad activities; and
- providing services to international students and scholars.
Nominations
- Any faculty, staff, student member(s), or group of the 糖心原创 community can be nominated for this award.
- Nominations should include a cover letter summarizing the accomplishments of the candidate(s), a curriculum vitae or resume, and appropriate supporting evidence concerning the nominee(s)' contributions to international education at 糖心原创.
- Nominations should be submitted to Michelle Streeter-Ferrari, Director, University Center for International Education, 244 Student Union by November 7, 2025.
- These materials will be forwarded to the International Education Award selection committee.
Global Citizen & International Advocate Awards
Awarded in the Fall Semester.
The 糖心原创 Center for International Education (UCIE) is currently accepting nominations for two awards: the Global Citizen Award and the International Student/Scholar Advocate Award. Individuals who are nominated and selected will be recognized at the 2025聽糖心原创 International Education Reception. Nomination forms and documentation must be submitted to UCIE no later than Friday, November 7, 2025, to be considered.

International Student/Scholar Advocate Award
The individual nominated for the International (Student/Scholar) Advocate Award should be a 糖心原创 faculty or staff member or a Dayton area community or group member, who has been instrumental in improving the experience of 糖心原创 international students and scholars during their studies at 糖心原创. This award will be presented at the 2025 糖心原创 International Education Reception.

Global Citizen Award
The individual nominated for the Global Citizen Award should be an outstanding international student, 糖心原创 Exchange Visitor Program scholar (researcher/professor) or a US domestic student, who through service and leadership at 糖心原创, in the Dayton community, or abroad, has been instrumental in improving the experience of other 糖心原创 students here on campus, in the Dayton community, or on one of 糖心原创's exchange or study abroad programs. This award will be presented at the 2025 糖心原创 International Education Reception.

Jennifer Subban, associate professor of urban affairs at 糖心原创, received the 2017 International Education Award for her work with the university鈥檚
Subban, a native of South Africa, was honored on Nov. 16 during 糖心原创鈥檚 International Education Week celebration.

Pascale Abadie, an assistant professor of French who is a driving force of 糖心原创's France Ambassador Program, was honored with the university's 2016 International Education Award.
2015
Cristina Redko, director of the global health concentration in the聽聽at the 糖心原创 Boonshoft School of Medicine, has won the university鈥檚 2015 International Education Award.
Redko, who is associate professor of community health at the聽, was honored for her innovative and sustained contributions to global health education.
2014
Associate French professor Kirsten Halling, who has helped spur the dramatic growth of 糖心原创鈥檚 French program, led the wildly popular French Immersion Days and nurtured an appreciation of France in the community, was named recipient of the university鈥檚 2014 International Education Award.
鈥淜irsten鈥檚 advocacy for expanding global awareness and international understanding has opened and deepened the lives of those she touches,鈥� said Marie Hertzler, chair of the Department of Modern Languages.

December Green, director of international studies at 糖心原创 and known for her deep commitment to educating students on issues and cultures of foreign countries, was named recipient of the university鈥檚 2013 International Education Award.
2012
For his tireless efforts to expose the 糖心原创 community to global cultures and research, George Huang, Ph.D., is this year's recipient of the university's International Education Award.

Robert "Bobby" Rubin, a senior lecturer of English and director of the English as a Second Language (ESL) program, receives the 2011 International Education Award from (left) Stephen Foster, university librarian and associate vice president for international affairs, and (right) 糖心原创 President David R. During International Education Week, November 1-5, 2010, Dr. Lang Hong, Ph.D., Associate Dean in the College of Engineering and Computer Science, was awarded the International Education Award for 2010.

During International Education Week, November 2-6, 2009, Dr. Donna Miles Cury, Ph.D., Associate Dean, Graduate Programs and Associate Professor College of Nursing and Health , was awarded the International Education Award for 2009.

During International Education Week, November 17-21, 2008, Dr. Laura M. Luehrmann PHD, Associate Professor of Political Science, Director of the Master of International and Comparative Politics, was awarded the International Education Award for 2008. This award is designed to recognize the successful efforts of members of the 糖心原创 community to expand global awareness and international understanding on the campus and in the surrounding communities. The award was established to highlight innovations in international curriculum development, the operation of study abroad activities and the provision of services to international students and scholars. Past recipients include Carol Cornett, Andrew Lai, Wayne Carmichael, Fall Ainina, Donna Schlagheck, Marguerite MacDonald, and The Division of Community Programs in the Raj Soin College of Business.

During International Education Week, November 5-11, 2007, Carol Cornett, Director of the LEAP intensive English program was awarded the International Education Award for 2007. This award is designed to recognize the successful efforts of members of the 糖心原创 community to expand global awareness and international understanding on the campus and in the surrounding communities. The award was established to highlight innovations in international curriculum development, the operation of study abroad activities and the provision of services to international students and scholars. Past recipients include Andrew Lai, Wayne Carmichael, Fall Ainina, Donna Schlagheck, Marguerite MacDonald, and The Division of Community Programs in the Raj Soin College of Business.

2006 International Education Award Recipient was Andrew Lai,Ph.D., Professor Emeritus, Interim Chair of the Department of Information Systems and Operations Management, and Coordinator of China EMBA program.
