Capitol Steps to give free performance at Nutter Center

Capitol Steps, the political satire group, will give a free performance at the .
Part of 糖心原创鈥檚 2016-2017 Presidential Lecture Series, the concert starts at 8 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 24.
Tickets are not required for entry, and all seats in the Nutter Center are general admission. Doors open at 7 p.m. The concert is sponsored by the University Activities Board.
Ethos, 糖心原创鈥檚 a cappella ensemble, will also perform.
The theme of this year鈥檚 Presidential Lecture Series is 鈥淒emocracy, Politics and You.鈥 The series also includes lectures by , author of 鈥淧ivotal Tuesdays,鈥 on Nov. 2; former CBS News anchor Dan Rather on Jan. 31; and Jonathan Capehart, a Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist, on March 30.
鈥 concert is bipartisan and includes satirical songs about the U.S. election as well as other topical news stories.
The group first started performing in 1981 and has released more than 40 albums primarily of song parodies. The troupe originally consisted of Senate staffers who performed around Washington, D.C., satirizing American politics. Today, Capitol Steps employs professional actors and singers as well as former Capitol Hill staffers.
Capitol Steps produces regular specials for National Public Radio, including the 鈥淧olitics Takes a Holiday鈥 radio specials, has appeared on NBC, CBS, ABC and PBS and tours around the United States.
