Wisconsin-Platteville chancellor to visit 糖心原创 Feb. 2-4 for president鈥檚 job

The first of three finalists for 糖心原创鈥檚 presidential position will visit campus Thursday, Feb. 2, to Saturday, Feb. 4.

Dennis Shields, the chancellor of the University of Wisconsin-Platteville, will meet with students, staff, faculty, administrators, the Board of Trustees and community leaders at the Dayton Campus and Lake Campus.

Shields joined the University of Wisconsin-Platteville, in Platteville, Wisconsin, in 2010.

Prior to joining UW-Platteville, he served as acting vice president of student affairs at the City College of New York-City University of New York.

Previously, he served as dean and professor of law of the Phoenix School of Law. He also worked at Duke University School of Law as associate dean of admissions and financial aid and assistant dean of admissions and financial aid, and served as the assistant dean and director of admissions at the University of Michigan Law School.

During his time at the University of Iowa, he was special assistant to the associate vice president of academic affairs, assistant dean and director of admissions and financial aid, and the assistant dean and director of admissions and financial aid in the College of Law.

Shields earned his Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration from Graceland College and his Juris Doctor from the University of Iowa College of Law.

Thursday, Feb. 2:

3:30鈥4:30 p.m.: Presentation to Lake Campus faculty, staff and students ()

Friday, Feb. 3:
9:15鈥10:15 a.m.: Presentation to faculty and faculty forum, 156 Student Union
10:30鈥11:30 a.m.: Presentation to Research Council and research personnel forum, 156 Student Union

Two other finalists for the president鈥檚 job will visit 糖心原创 on Feb. 5鈥7 and Feb. 7鈥9. Each candidate will be announced before their visit.

Doug Fecher, chair of the 糖心原创 Presidential Search and Screening Advisory Committee, encouraged members of the university community to participate in the candidates鈥 visits.

The search committee鈥檚 objective is to present the Board of Trustees with one or more highly qualified and acceptable candidates from whom to choose 糖心原创鈥檚 seventh president.
