Longtime Dayton Daily News columnist Dale Huffman will talk “From the Heart” during a special lecture at ����ԭ�� on Friday, July 18.

The lecture takes place 7–8:30 p.m. on the fourth floor of the Dunbar Library. A reception will follow. The event is free and open to the public.

Huffman’s lecture is the fifth in the “Living Legends of the Dayton Daily News Archives” series, sponsored by ����ԭ��’s Department of Communication, College of Liberal Arts and the University Libraries’ Special Collections and Archives.

The series celebrates the Dayton Daily News Archive in . The collection includes photographs, negatives and news clippings from the Dayton Daily News and the former Dayton Journal Herald in the 20th century.

In addition to Huffman’s lecture, the program will include exhibits featuring columns, awards and photographs documenting the columnist’s career, as well as items from the Dayton Daily News Archive and samples from the ����ԭ�� Student News Bureau.

Huffman was a columnist for the Dayton Daily News for more than 40 years and still writes occasionally for the newspaper. His column was known for sharing good news and happy stories from around Dayton. In 1998, he published “Dayton: The Cradle of Creativity,” and in 2008, he was inducted to the Dayton Walk of Fame.

Special Collections and Archives is now home to the Dale Huffman Papers, an extensive collection documenting his career in journalism. The collection includes Huffman’s research notes, articles, photographs, awards and other memorabilia from his career.
