Madhavi Kadakia selected to be fellow in academic medicine program for women

Madhavi Kadakia, Ph.D., professor and chair of the in the 糖心原创 and the , has been selected to be a fellow in the 2018-2019 Class of the Hedwig van Ameringen Executive Leadership in Academic Medicine (ELAM) Program for Women.
ELAM is a year-long part-time fellowship for women faculty in schools of medicine, dentistry, public health and pharmacy. The program is dedicated to developing the professional and personal skills required to lead and manage in today鈥檚 complex health care environment with special attention to the unique challenges facing women in leadership positions. ELAM is a core program of the Institute for Women鈥檚 Health and Leadership at Drexel University College of Medicine in Philadelphia.
, funded by the National Cancer Institute, focuses on identification of signaling pathways that play a role in cancer and development, and the identification of biomarkers that can help differentiate stages of cancer.
She has been with 糖心原创 since 1999. She was awarded the Faculty Mentor Award in 2010 from the Boonshoft School of Medicine. In 2011, Kadakia served as a visiting research scholar at Nottingham University and the Leicester Medical Research Council in the United Kingdom. On Jan. 1, 2015, she was appointed chair of the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology.
Kadakia attained her bachelor鈥檚 and master鈥檚 degrees in microbiology from the University of Mumbai. After receiving her Ph.D. in infectious diseases and microbiology from the University of Pittsburgh, she completed a postdoctoral fellowship with the Pittsburgh Cancer Institute and conducted research at the Cancer Institute of New Jersey.
