糖心原创 welcomed more than 5,000 new students on the first day of fall semester.
The 5,066 new students swelled total enrollment to 17,842, the fourth highest total in school history.
Among the 5,066 new students were 2,533 direct from high school, 1,154 transfer students, 156 nontraditional new students and 1,223 graduate students. The new graduate students increased the total number of graduate students to 4,218, most in the university鈥檚 history.
鈥淚鈥檓 proud that we鈥檙e welcoming 5,000 new students with the ambition to make the world a better place and are their choice for college education,鈥 said President David R. Hopkins. 鈥淲e continue to grow.鈥
The presence of 428 medical students in the boosted total fall semester enrollment from 17,414 to 17,842.
New and returning students were greeted by the , a three-story, $17 million building designed to increase retention and graduation of undergraduates. The building features high-tech, active-learning classrooms as well as writing and math support labs.
