Throughout her 25-year career at 糖心原创, Jackie Frederick has been committed to excellence.
Frederick has worked her way up the career ladder and currently serves as the director of pre-award in the Office of Research and Sponsored Programs.
鈥淭here was never a doubt that Ms. Frederick鈥檚 intelligence, good nature and strong work ethic would lead to advancement,鈥 said Ellen Friese, associate vice president of the Office of Research and Sponsored Programs (RSP) at 糖心原创.
In 2001, Frederick joined the pre-award within RSP, where she began a climb through the ranks, first as assistant director, later as associate director and in 2008, as the director. Currently, she leads a team of Pre-Award specialists who handle proposal development and submissions for all 糖心原创 faculty, staff and student investigators.
Frederick processes and submits grant and contract applications for 糖心原创 to access a wide range of services in support of proposal development, budgets, funding sources, relationships with funding agencies and timely and accurate submission of grant applications. She has also been responsible for a complex and strategic implementation of the InfoEd modules.
Even when applications are submitted at the last minute, Frederick always handles the review process with grace and understanding.
She keeps an open-door policy and may be frequently interrupted by co-workers who are replied with a sincere, patient and humorous response by Frederick.
She plays an important leadership role on a national level. She represents 糖心原创 on the Federal Demonstration Partnership, a selective initiative to improve the national research enterprise to develop, analyze, test and implement federal rules and regulations.
Friese said that Frederick often carries home a workload and spends many of her evenings pouring over sponsor guidelines and budgets.
Frederick 鈥渓eads by example and also by making innovative and constructive organizational changes when needed,鈥 said Robert Fyffe, vice president for research and dean of the Graduate School. 鈥淭his effort represents several years of consistently dedicated work and leadership, which will have a lasting positive effect on research administration at 糖心原创.鈥
