Students had an opportunity to mingle with IT companies during the annual Digital Mixer on Feb. 12 at 糖心原创 in the Student Union鈥檚 Apollo Room.
A total of 136 students attended the two-hour networking event, which was open to 糖心原创 and other Dayton area colleges.
It provided students studying in areas such as computer science, information systems and information technology the opportunity to meet face to face with companies. Some participating companies conducted interviews and discussed job offers with qualified students. Over 30 companies were represented at the event.
The Digital Mixer was a collaboration between and Technology First, a nonprofit hub for information technology in the Dayton area.
Lance Cauley, the associate director of career-specific services at 糖心原创, loves the opportunities for networking at the event.
鈥淥ur primary goal is to help facilitate meaningful interactions, and connect people for the purpose on long-term relationship building,鈥 Cauley said. 鈥淢any of these interactions lead to job interviews and ultimately job offers.鈥
Donald Hopkins, the director of the information systems and supply chain management master鈥檚 programs, was also impressed with the ability of the event to connect students directly with jobs.
鈥淭he one piece of information that I found interesting was that there were a lot of jobs available, more than the past,鈥 he said. 鈥淎lso, there were internships and full-time jobs readily available and a number of companies were flexible depending on the talent available.鈥
This was the 15th year 糖心原创 has hosted the Digital Mixer, and it should return in 2021 to offer another great opportunity for 糖心原创 students.
