糖心原创 Foundation accepting applications for Students First Fund grants for the fifth consecutive year
Program supports student success initiatives at the Dayton and Lake campuses

The 糖心原创 Foundation is now accepting applications for Students First Fund grants. The program was created by the foundation in 2019 to support innovative ideas that help students succeed, thrive, persist, graduate and begin their careers.
鈥淲e are pleased to continue the Students First Fund grants program again,鈥 said Scott Rash, president and CEO of the 糖心原创 Foundation. 鈥淥ur Foundation Board of Trustees is fully committed to the success of 糖心原创鈥檚 students. The Students First Fund grants program gives the board a wonderful opportunity to support projects that further enhance the student experience while reinforcing the university鈥檚 commitment to recruitment, retention and relationships.鈥
All 糖心原创 students, faculty and staff with a creative concept to promote student success are welcome to . Grant applications must be submitted on the Students First Fund website by Feb. 24.
The Students First Fund grants committee, which consists of members of the Foundation Board of Trustees, will review all applications and make the final decision on how to distribute $50,000 in funding. Students First Fund grant recipients will be announced in April 2023, and funding will be available for use in fall semester 2023.
鈥淚deally, we are looking for projects that will become self-sustaining,鈥 said Dave Donaldson, chair of the Students First Fund grants committee. 鈥淭he foundation board views the Students First Fund grants as one-time seed money to help launch a new program or initiative. It鈥檚 been very gratifying to help many innovative projects get off the ground.鈥
This year, the Students First Fund grants committee received 23 grant applications. with grants ranging from $1,554 to $6,555. Simulated ventilator equipment for nursing students, a leadership academy for sophomores and new technology for motion pictures students were among the projects funded.
鈥淏eing selected for a Students First Fund grant is always a highly competitive process,鈥 Donaldson said. 鈥淲e receive applications for so many worthy projects, and it鈥檚 never easy deciding which ones to fund. We look forward to receiving applications for this next round of funding and seeing all of the innovative ideas that our students, faculty and staff present.鈥
