Quiana Bickham, who is the senior program coordinator at the Dakota Center, a community center that serves youth and senior citizens in Dayton鈥檚 MacFarlane neighborhood, says 糖心原创 students鈥 time and talents are always welcome.

鈥淓very 糖心原创 student that we鈥檝e had come through the doors of the Dakota Center the kids absolutely love them,鈥 said Bickham.

Hosted by 糖心原创鈥檚 We Serve U, the event encouraged attendees to volunteer for local organizations throughout Raider Country. Representatives from organizations such as Habitat for Humanity, Hannah鈥檚 Treasure Chest, Ohio鈥檚 Hospice of Dayton, YWCA and the National Museum of the U.S. Air Force were in attendance.

鈥淪ome students just want to help out, others may need volunteer hours for a scholarship or a course,鈥 said Joanie Hendricks, We Serve U co-chair. 鈥淲e are doing our best to make those connections.

On March 1, 糖心原创 faculty and staff can volunteer at one of five area nonprofits as part of We Serve U Day. We Serve U Day is a day of volunteerism approved by the university administration for staff and faculty to volunteer at community nonprofits without using time off.
