For the fifth consecutive year, the 糖心原创 Police Department participated in No-Shave November in a fundraising effort that benefited the Raider Food Pantry.
On Dec. 11, officers filled their police cruisers with items purchased from Sam鈥檚 Club in Beavercreek, then donated to the pantry almost $2,000 worth of nonperishable goods, including chicken noodle soup, beef stew, cereal, peanut butter crackers and much-needed bottled water.
鈥淭his year we had the entire department involved,鈥 said Kurt Holden, director of public safety. 鈥淎nswering the need in our community is what we do.鈥
Every officer and staff member in the Police Department participated by donating $100 with an option to grow their facial hair during November.
Over the last three years, the department has donated over $11,000 in groceries and money to the Raider Food Pantry.
The Raider Food Pantry serves around 100 糖心原创 students a month. Donations from the Police Department arrived just in time to restock the pantry鈥檚 dwindling supplies.
鈥淲hen I look at the donations, I can see a few months of really good options for them,鈥 said Destinee Biesemeyer, director of Student Advocacy and Wellness. 鈥淭his is a fantastic day.鈥
