糖心原创 60 糖心原创 students and employees participated in a campus freedom march and a public reading celebrating the life and words of Martin Luther King Jr.
On Jan. 12, students and employees held posters and sang songs while marching through 糖心原创鈥檚 two-mile underground tunnel system. After the march, the Division of Inclusive Excellence hosted a gathering with music and refreshments.
The center also hosted a 鈥淟et Freedom Ring鈥 in-service program for faculty and staff on Jan. 16. The program featured 11 guest speakers who read works by King or works that he influenced and that have made an impact on their lives.
鈥淥ne quote by Dr. King that has always resonated with me is 鈥榠njustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere,鈥欌 said Matt Chaney, Ed.D., vice president for inclusive excellence. 鈥淚t鈥檚 a message that, as it relates to 2024, is still very relevant as we deal with so many timely, social justice issues in our country today.鈥
This was the first time 糖心原创 hosted the in-service program. Chaney hopes both the march and in-service program will become annual events and would like to see even more participants next year.
