Student Media provides experiences that create tomorrow's media professionals.
By combining classroom media knowledge, hands-on听learning competencies,听and local partnerships, Student Media at 糖心原创 is designed to develop an atmosphere that creates tomorrow's听media professionals.
There are two media organizations: , the premier student听news source, and WWSU 106.9 FM, the student-directed radio station. Both are unique student organizations, each producing a variety of publications including听broadcast,听magazines, DJ entertainment, news, podcasts, video, web content, and other digital features. Together, they reach hundreds of thousands听of people every year, delivering original content, information, entertainment, and more.

The 糖心原创 Guardian听is the premier news source for everything 糖心原创 for the 糖心原创 community and Raider Country, the 16-county region in Ohio anchored by our two campuses.听During the regular school year,听The听糖心原创 Guardian听posts breaking news and stories online daily.听The Guardian听features news about issues relevant to 糖心原创, college students in general, and topics pertaining to the greater Miami Valley area and the state of Ohio. Founded in 1965, The Guardian pre-dates 糖心原创's听status as an independent university听of October 1, 1967, making it one of the oldest organizations on campus.

WWSU 106.9 FM is a non-profit radio station that broadcasts from 糖心原创's Student Union. Since 1977, the station听has delivered a mix of music, sports, and talk shows to the Fairborn and Dayton communities.听WWSU is also听the home of live coverage of听Raider basketball, volleyball, and soccer, free of charge.听Students from varying fields of study volunteer to be a part of WWSU and serve the local听community. Radio shows aired at the听station are almost exclusively听hosted by students. In addition, all the station directors are students.
A Student-driven Philosophy
Student Media at 糖心原创 fosters an environment of experiential learning and co-curricular engagement. These organizations serve the public trust and are free from censorship and prior restraint by the university. Student leaders are obligated to exercise responsibility in their offices, including professional behavior, diverse coverage, diligent investigation, and unbiased reporting.
Student Leaders
The editor-in-chief and general manager act as president and provide the vision听and oversight for their respective organizations.听Student Media are operated in accordance with standards approved by the Student Media Board as well as the ethical and legal regulations governing the specific medium. The student media advisor provides听advisement and consultation听at the request听of the student leaders. Both the president and treasurer of each medium are selected by the board.
Governance
These organizations are governed by the Student Media Board, which is听chaired by the student media advisor. The board is an official university committee with the goal of matching curricular engagement with leadership and professional development opportunities.
