Workplace Bullying
In a recent article put out by Impact Solutions, 糖心原创鈥檚 Faculty & Staff Assistance Program provider, research varies on the most commonly perpetrated bullying behaviors.听 According to the Workplace Bullying Institute, the five most common bullying behaviors are:
- Falsely accusing the victim of errors not actually made (鈥淥h, now look what you鈥檝e done鈥), but refusing to show or prove any error;
- Staring, glaring, or behaving nonverbally in order to intimidate, but clearly showing hostility;
- Discounting the person鈥檚 thoughts or feelings in meetings with peers (鈥淕ee, duh, thanks for听sharing, Susan鈥);
- Using the silent treatment to 鈥渋ce out鈥 and separate the victim from others;
- Making up rules on the fly that the bully himself or herself does not follow but has then imposed on the victim.
Understanding the broad range of bullying behaviors can help you spot them. (Impact Solutions, Front Line Supervisor, Newsletter, March 2015)
